Music at St. Stephen's
Music has the power to bring us together, lift our spirits and bring us close to God in a way that words alone cannot always do. We enjoy singing good hymns, and we have a lovely pipe organ, which is quite rare in Hong Kong, built by Pels and van Leuwen, a family-run organ builder in Holland. The organ was donated to the Chapel in 2003 by the Fung Foundation. Our organists are Jessie Lau, Henry Wheare, Robin Newman and Liz Coupe.
We love to see the Chapel used for musical recitals and charity concerts. Recent concerts have included:
A recital by James Thomas (Organ) with Lizzie Peacock (Harp) and Elizabeth Coupe (Soprano)
The Gough Duo, Rupert and Rachel Gough, on the organ and violin
La Reunion Musicale, a Period Ensemble of young Hong Kong musicians
The Cecilian Singers
Robin and Francis Newman on the violin, piano and organ
The City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong
